- Description
- Sansei Joan Takayama-Ogawa was born in Pasadena and graduated from Muir, UCLA, and Stanford. While Dean at Santa Monica's Crossroads School, Joan took a ceramics class. She is now Associate Professor of ceramics at Otis College of Art and Design and her ceramics are in many international museums. This piece, "Japanese American Cultural Baggage," was designed after 11 September. While it was intended for the Smithsonian, it is now in the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation in South Korea.
