- John Hazlet & Flying Tigers p40 is written on the back of the photograph. Hazlet is standing on the wing of a Curtiss P-40E, mascot of the Flying Tiger Line, an all freight airline founded by Robert Prescott, an ace pilot in the WWII American Volunteer Group, known as the Flying Tigers. The front (nose) of the airplane is painted to resemble a shark. Also painted on the plane are the number "67," "P-18723" and a silhouette of a woman's figure. John Hazlet taught aviation courses at Pasadena City College for 24 years beginning in about 1969.
