Description
Richfield Oil CEO Charles S. Jones wrote a letter of reference for Francis Uyematsu. Uyematsu was applying to return to California in 1944 from Manzanar concentration camp. Star Nursery's prized 600,000 camellias were sold to Manchester Boddy and Charles Jones when the Uyematsu family were forced to internment. Boddy's collection became Descanso Gardens.
