- Description
- Mack home on Chapman Avenue with the horizontal street being Lincoln. This is taken a year after they buried the Red Car tracks on Lincoln. Chapman had Japanese Americans (Tsubois of Chevron station, owners of Lincoln Avenue Nursery) Filipinos, Native Americans, Hispanics, and Whites. "There was even a Black family with an adopted Korean child. We all took care our neighborhoods; we knew each other. We had a strong sense of community," said Stephen Mack III. "Bob at the market on Lincoln would give everyone credit. He knew everyone would pay their bills." Stephen also remembers, "Mr. Sesnick next door would drive his old truck to South Pasadena to shine and fix people's shoes from the back of his truck." Note the stripped street sign pole.
