- Description
- One of the first Japanese families to come to Pasadena, Shichitaro Takayama with Nekane and maybe other partners started New Meiji Laundry in 1907. The other partners may be Fukutaki, Yamaoka, Ozawa, and Suzuki. They purchased the business from Chinese who returned to Toisan. Through the decades, Meiji hired many other Issei and Nisei. Meiji mostly worked for the exclusive clientele living around Orange Grove Boulevard.
