War Slogan Bond Purchase Is Admission
Entries Must To Victory Show, May 19
Making Pasadena one of his nation-wide tour stopovers,
Spike Jones and his City Slickers will present his show, “Salute
to Youth” Victory Rally for local citizens who further OMD’s
patriotic endeavor, the stamp and bond sale. In addition to the
Jones band at the event, May 19, will be two ex-PJC men, now
in the Marine Corps, who have been awarded the Distinguished
Service Cross. Coronation of the queen and presentation of her
court will also be part of the en- _
tertainment.
Be In Friday
To the student suggesting the
best “Win the War” slogan, a
special trophy will he awarded
at the JC Rally. Slogan writers
will be judged on three points:
Originality, timeliness and tie-in
with stamps and bonds, and suit¬
able length for publication on
posters and advertising material
issued by the Treasury Depart¬
ment.
May 14 all slogans must be pre¬
sented at Olive Kelso’s office, 108
C, or in Miss Kelso’s post office
box.

Awards Given
To Students
Aiding Drive
Permanent trophies will be
awarded to the students who have
aided the OMD Bond Drive the
most, at the Victory Rally by
Spike Jones.
Two of the trophies will be
given to the boy and girl who
purchase the most bonds and
stamps from the OMD booth.
Members of OMD will not be
eligible for this award and stu¬
dents are urged to keep the re¬
receipts for all bonds that are
purchased during the drive.
To the boy and girl whose con¬
tribution to Victory on the home
front are adjudged the most out¬
standing, two of the remaining
trophies will be given. This
award, open to all students, will
be based on all-around war activi¬
ty and will be chosen by a faculty
committee.
The purchase of a bond of
any denomination will permit
admission to the show. Spike
Jones is sponsoring the Rally in
cooperation with Schools-At-

prexy, “don’t stop with your
friends’ 'support. We want this
drive to be city wide. Every PJC
student must become an active,
energetic salesman for Victory.

self."
Rules for the soliciting of
stamps and bonds are as follows:
1. Obtain a green application
blank from the student bank or
the Deans’ offices.
2. Have the purchaser All out
the blank with all the informa¬
tion.
3. Be Sure to State Whether
It Is To Be a Co-Owned or
Beneficiary Bond. A co-owner
means that the bond is owned
jointly by two individuals and
either person may cash it. A
bond which has as its second
party a beneficiary, means that
the person who is sharing the
bond may cash it in upon the
death of the owner.
4. Be Sure To State Which
Series the Purchaser Wishes to
Have.
Get a check or cash from the
purchaser for the denomination
of the bond wanted. Please have
the purchaser make the check
out to: First Trust and Savings
Bank, Pasadena Jr. College.
6. Bring the Check, With the
Bond Application to the PJC
School Bank, Where the Bond
Application Will Be Typed For
You. You will receive a receipt,
which you must present to
either be able to vote for the
queen, or to receive your ticket
to the big Spike Jones’ radio
show. More information about
how to present your receipts
to get your ticket to the show-
will be announced later.
In previous appearances of the
Spike Jones show, the following
stamp and bond totals have been
established: Fullerton J. C., $94,-
350.00; Compton J. C., $165,000.00;
Hollywood High School, $174,-
550.00; Manual Arts High School,
$331,450.00. Order of Mast and
Dagger has set as their goal a
total of $350,000.00.
