Gledhill . .
Fred Gledhill, returned ex-ser¬
viceman, has for his platform a
program of school advancement
which would be hard to equal.
Having had experience in work¬
ing with students prior to enter¬
ing the service, Fred feels qual¬
ified for the highest office in our
college.
As the school is getting back
to its pre-war standards of en¬
thusiasm, Fred has definite activ¬
ities to be inaugurated, and he
would continue the school activi¬
ties which have proven success¬
ful in the past. We therefore ask
you to consider each step of his
platform and to make the wisest
choice in voting.
1. Increased school spirit,
brought about by more inter¬
class activity, dances, class days;
also a freshman initiation, thus
bringing back the red and white
beanies which are required of all
freshmen in the universities and
were proven successful in past
years.
2. School enthusiasm will be in¬
creased by pre-game rallies, res¬
trictive club participation in more
school affairs, plus more general
student projects.
3. More community interest will
be invoked by community nights
with all school organizations par¬
ticipating.
4. Parent interest in students
will only be had when the parents
are given an insight into Student
Body functions. This is to be ac¬
complished by parent nights.
5. A new angle is merchant
enthusiasm. The students could
donate their art or other talent
to various city merchants, thus
bringing into being a feeling of
cooperation which has never ex¬
isted before. The college could
co-sponsor dances with such or¬
ganizations as the Chamber of
Commerce or other service organ¬
izations of the city.
6. Smoother functioning of stu¬
dent government — bring faculty
supervision to a minimum and
have more able student represen¬
tation in all our offices. Various
students who show the ability
would be able to present assem¬
blies for the school, something
which has been virtually Impos¬
sible in the past.
With more recognition of stu¬
dents who serve on the court and
cabinet, once again it will be an
honor to hold an office in our
student government.
Considering Fred’s platform in
retrospect, it presents to the read¬
er a program of original, con¬
structive and progressive ideas
for a semester which will be long
remembered as one in which real
progress was made.

A leader’s first duty is to work
with his fellow men, to help
them with their problems to put
over their ideas and thoughts.
If selected for the office of AMS
president, I will do my job to
the best of my ability.
Qualifications: General activi¬
ties, Frosh Council, Soph Class
President, MOS Restrictive Club,
Sports, AMS Board.
Phil Miller:
The office of AMS President,
which I am seeking is one which,
when properly managed, and with
the support of the entire student
body, becomes the force which
brings to its Alma Mater long
and lasting satisfaction, both to
the school and to the community.
I would not seek this office if I
felt that I could not have that
support.
I shall devote this office to the
principles for which it stands, and
give full support to the constitu¬
tional privileges to which AMS
has always strived, greater fel¬
lowship among all PJC’ers.
Qualifications: AMS Board
member, X-ANM, Lancer, Shield-
man, Ski Club, Junior Class Coun¬
cil, President of Hi-Liters, Peg¬
asus Restrictive Club.

Everyone knows that to do a
job efficiently, one must prepare
himself for it. With two sem¬
esters on the board of represen¬
tatives and three semesters of
extra curricular activities, I have
worked with Student Body Presi¬
dent as my goal.
The most talked about topics
on campus at this time seem to
be: school spirit, MRICCY, the
city’s memorial for vets, and an
Easter Sunrise Service in the
Rose Bowl. The following are
my views on these subjects.
For the past 4 semesters, most
of the candidates for office have
promised to build up our school
spirit. They did their best, as
much as any one person could
do, but there still wasn’t that
certain feeling for our Alma Ma¬
ter.
I said once that the war would
have to end — then our school
spirit would start to rise. The
war has ended and we are on the
up grade — this has been proven
at our football games and dances
this semester, but now comes our
danger point! In the past our
spirit hit all time lows at mid¬
year. I say “Keep our Pep Com¬
mission active during the second
term.” Let’s have our cheerlead¬
ers at our basketball games here
and out of town.
Among the Restrictive clubs
is the question of when are the
men coming back on campus. If
and when they do, and I think it
will be in the near future, I will
back them to my utmost in up¬
holding their RICCY rules.
In reference to the Greek am¬
phitheater that the vets think the
city should build as a memorial
on our campus, I know that, as_
myself, the whole student body'
will be behind them 100%.
The Easter Sunrise Service,
first instigated by our present
ASB Prexy will be a wonderful
addition to our prestige. These
and several other policies started
by our President will be contin¬
ued if I am elected.
Qualifications: AMS President,
Lancer President, Lancer Vice-
president, Charter member and
Vice-president of X-ANM, Rep-at-
large, Campus and Chronicle
Photographer, Beta Phi Gamma.
Betty Rutte:
“The purpose of AWS is to
uphold the highest ideals of true
womanhood, courtesy of speech
and manner, simplicity, loyalty,
and honor, ah well as to develop
among the girls such activities
as will promote the spirit of ser¬
vice, good fellowship and democ¬
racy." I feel well qualified to ful¬
fill this purpose with the past ex¬
perience I have had in AWS
work; I have worked in close co¬
operation with our outgoing pres¬
ident and am prepared to carry
on her work and make the com¬
ing semester the most success¬
ful in the history of AWS.
Qualifications: AWS 3rd Vice-
president, Chairman of Latin
Committee of the Language
Council, English Council, Senior
Class Council, SCA Frosh “Y”
leader, Vice-president of L’Ami-
tie Restrictive Club.
Elisabeth Sanders:
Although AWS projects in the
past have been successful, they
have not gone over as well as
possible because all the girls on
campus didn’t take part in them.
So if I’m elected president of
AWS, I’d like to make every girl
Pasadena proved at the Junior
College Conference that student
government enjoys the enviable
reputation of being at its best in
our school. I believe that to main¬
tain that reputation we must con¬
tinually improve our student gov¬
ernment and activities. To achieve
that end, I present the following
platform :
1. A student seminar, replac¬
ing the out-moded Gripe Box, to
express student opinion.
2. The expansion of activities,
both in number and in type for
old students and new, including
the veterans, to promote school
spirit and more and better publi¬
city for such activities.
3. Clubs and organizations
should be brought back on cam¬
pus, and their organizational abil¬
ities given opportunities to con¬
tribute to school spirit and activ¬
ity.
4. The different classes, the
athletic department, clubs and
organizations should be brought
closer to the student government
for more efficient use of the stu¬
dent funds and for better organi¬
zation of school spirit.
5. We have a mature student
body. Our court system and Crim¬
inal Code should be improved
and dignified if they are to de¬
serve the student body’s respect.
6. Better relations and under¬
standing with other colleges
through promotion of activities -
such as the Junior College Con¬
ference.
Your student leaders expressed
their confidence in me when they
asked me to run for ASB Prexy.
I ask that you justify your con¬
fidence in student government
through a 100% expression of
your voting power.
