Marylin Walker In Lead Again.
Modern
;Bill of Divorcement7
In Little Theatre
Next Friday
Producing what has been term¬
ed “the most sensational play
ever presented in England,” the
Dramatic Laboratory is going in
to the realm of the unusual with
their “Bill of Divorcement”
the Little Theater, June 13.
A tense domestic drama, the
play deals with the trials and
tribulations of a girl, her mother
and an insane father. In the
starring roles will be Marylin
Walker, Francelia Welch and La-
mount Johnson, with Rod Whit¬
low directing.
Not only has the play been a
great Broadway hit, but it has
been produced in the movies
twice. Stars of the stage play
were Katherine Cornell and John
Barrymore, while Fay Bainter,
Adolph Menjou and Herbert Mar¬
shall play in latest screen version
Clarence Dane, the author of the
play, is considered one of the
outstanding modern playwrights
of England.
“The plot, which runs the en¬
tire gamulet of melodrama, gives
the stars their best chance that
they have had at PJC to show
their dramatic ability” according
to Rod Whitlow, director. “The
play holds definite appeal for the
college aged student . . . has
frankness, modern aspects.”
Although the play, according
to Whitlow, is worthy of the
main stage, it is being produced
in the Little Theater in order to
save expenses and “insure a full
house.” Since much of the plot
centers around a piano, one will
be used in the stage set for the
first time in the history of the
Little Theater. Included in the
cast are Mary Ellen Lane, Art
Weatherby, Bill Davis, Keith
Dahle and Phil Alexander. “This
is the best cast” boasts Director
Whitlow, “that has ever been
compiled at PJC . . . anyone
who misses it is loosing out on
the best production of the sea¬
son.”
