Bolander .
Kred Bolander — ASB President
I am running for a second term,
for I believe that it takes one
complete semester to get fully
oriented to the Job of ASB Presi¬
dent; and if elected to serve for
a second time, there are a number
of things that I would like to com¬
plete next semester.
As an ex-serviceman, one of my
main objectives is to build an
appealing program and curricu¬
lum for the returning veterans.
Another thing that I would like
to see instigated outside of school
is the Easter Sunrise Service in
the Rose Bowl. As I brought up in
the City Council meeting on
Youth Day, this program would
be much more convenient for
the people of Pasadena, and
would be under the auspices of
the Music Department and the
Religious Council.
A big objective of mine is to
continue the program of bring¬
ing back the pre-war quality of
school spirit.
Qualifications: Former X-
ANM president, Lancqr and As¬
sociated Student Body Presi¬
dent.
Junior Prexy . . .
Eva Jane Conry
The work of the Junior Class
Council is essential to the unity
and efficiency of the Junior Col¬
lege as a whole and it is the job
of the Junior Class President to
organize the Council so as to
make this unification and efficien¬
cy possible.
Qualifications: Assistant Sec¬
retary of Records and a mem¬
ber of the Records Committee
for two semesters, a member
of Veda restrictive club, and I
have worked with the Junior
Class Council this last year.
Rowena Baker
Being Junior Class President
carries with it the responsibility
of bringing forth the ideas and
wishes of the entire group and
with the previous experience of
being AWS president, I feel that
with the class' complete co¬
operation, I could help bring
PJC’s school spirit to its pre-war
level.
Qualifications: AWS presi¬
dent and AWS third vice-pres¬
ident
Margaret Gerke
If elected, I shall do my best
to carry on the swell job Jeanne
Bartlett has done and to lead the
Junior Class through a semes¬
ter packed full of these three es¬
sentials of successful class activ¬
ities- service, fun and recogni¬
tion.
Qualifications: WAA Board
member. Secretary of Notifica¬
tions, Brush and Palette and
Secretary of Sophomore Class.

If I am elected as Frosh Prexy,

service projects as well as social
activities.
Qualifications: General activ¬
ities.
Pictured above are the candidates for the major Student Body offices left to right: Bob Reed,
AMS President, Fred Bolander, Jack Davis ASB President, John Cole, Jeanne Bartlett ASB Vice-pres¬
ident.
Bartlett . . . .
Jeanne Bartlett — ASB Vice-pres.
Due to the fine fulfillment of
the office of Student Body Vice-
president in the past, I believe
that the students are again real¬
izing the significance of this office.
Not only is the Vice-presidonl
я
member of the Board of Repre¬
sentatives, but has the position
of Chairman of the Cabinet.
Aside from our regular cab¬
inet, composed of appointive of¬
ficers, I would like to have a
group of students each to repre¬
sent a certain department, such
as Language, Mathematics, etc.
In this way I believe that we can
create a more representative gov¬
ernment made up of the average
student.
With my past experience in
student government, I feel I have
had the preparation to fill this
office.
Qualifications: AWS repre¬
sentative, member of Class
Councils, Spartan, Secretary of
Organizations, member of the
Cabinet, Frosh Y adviser, Jun¬
ior Class President .and member
of the Board.
Election Events
Primary elections of candidates
running for student body offices
will be held tomorrow, May 25;
one week from tomorrow. June
1, final elections will determine
the students who will take over
next semester as the chosen rep¬
resentatives for the entire student
body.
On each occasion, voting polls
will be situated at five key pos¬
itions on campus: 1. in front of
the C building; 2. on the south
side of the E building between the
E and C buildings; 3. between the
Tech building and the swimming
pool; 4. in front of the Student
Union; 5. and in front of the wo¬
men’s gym. Each position will
be manned by at least one Lan¬
cer or Spartan plus two members
of the Elections Committee.
Voting will take place between
the hours of 9 and 4 o’clock on
both days, and students must
present their Student Body cards
before marking their ballots. Stu¬
dents are also reminded here that
electioneei’ing within 30 feet of
the polls constitutes a primary
offense.
Cole .
John Cole — ASB Vice-president
It is a well-known fact here at
PJC that there are not enough
people interested in the affairs of
student government. Too much is
being done by too few who are
working too hard and too late.
It is the concern of everyone in¬
terested in student government to
promote its activities and its pur¬
poses.
PJC’s lack of school spirit is
evident at almost every school
event, whether athletic or gov¬
ernmental. It is my opinion that
we need more school-wide events,
such as the recent Community
Night, which would stimulate
school spirit. Only when a per¬
son feels that he is a part of
the school or has some responsibi-
ity in it, can be be expected to
give his limit of school spirit.
Qualifications: Superior Court
Justice, Minor Court Justice,
Bar Association and member of
the Legal Society.

Davis . . .
Jack Davis — ASB President
We have been trying to raise
our school spirit for three years
now. Have we succeeded? No!
Who is at fault? We all are, in
my opinion. You, the ‘squares’
and ‘sharpies,’ dumbos and intel¬
lects haven’t backed up the events
of the school. Sometimes our
leaders haven’t given us events
that are full of pep and a definite
attraction not to be missed. In
fact, we only had one pep rally
this last year. Let’s get some
more happenings like the tug of
war of last week and the Golden
Glove Finals. How about it?
As far as the basic duties of
the ASB President and his Board,
I feel that I am quite capable,
due to being AMS prexy and rep.
at large last semester.
As a member of CSF and AGS,
a two year track letterman, Lan¬
cer and Pegasus restrictive club
member, I believe I can represent
a good majority of the students
in various fields.
Qualifications: CSF president,
Letterman, Lancer, Rep. at
large,, AMS president.
Soph Prexy . . .
Larry Parker
A leader’s first duty is to work
with his followers; to help them
with their problems; and to put
over their ideas, their thoughts.
If elected, I shall try to do my
duty.
Qualifications: Frosh Council
member and representative at
large.
Patricia Juergens
As a candidate for Sophomore
President, I feel that my obli¬
gations are to fill the desires of
the Sophomore Class, and I in¬
tend to make the Sophomore
Class the best there has ever been
or ever will be.
Qualifications: General activ¬
ities.
George Mooradian
I propose to foster Sophomore
Class spirit, through constructive
channels, such as: mass meetings
of the Sophomore Class, better
planned and better publicized ac¬
tivities, and a more efficient Class
Council.
Qualifications: Member of
Frosh Council.
Skip White
Let’s try to reach a new goal
in school spirit! At present it
is not up to what it should be.
We shall need a well organized
council to carry on the job. Our
class has got what it takes; all
we need is for everyone to get in
and help with school activities
to have our Sophomore Class top
them all.
Qualifications: General activi- ‘
ties.
Senior Prexy . .
Mary Rutte
My chief goal for next semester
is to try in every way to create an
enthusiasm and spirit for the mid¬
term graduation as seen in the
spring graduation. Secondly, to
work for a well-organized and
efficient class council, in order
that we as a class may complete
any undertaking well. Finally, it
is my hope to cooperate in every
way with the new ASB president
and the other members of his
board.
Qualifications: Secretary, Jr.
Council.
