Thirteen students and two faculty members were tapped
this morning into Omicron Mu Delta, Pasadena City College’s

ing service to the college were
Karen Anderson, Mary Blowers,
Caroline Bredenberg, Donna Brox-
son, Bill Frenzel, Dennison Jack-
son, Pam Johnson, Kathie Kelley,
Javad Khalilzadeh, Carlene Mer¬
ritt, Sheilah Peters, Bob Wor¬
tham, and Cheryl Zintgraff.
THE TWO faculty members
were Dorothy Long, bank account¬
ant; and Jerry Todd, gymnastics
coach.
The new OMD’ers were tapped
by active members this morning
in their classes. They were imme¬
diately taken to the student activi¬
ties office where they waited in
seclusion until the noon OMD as¬
sembly.

The 15 students and faculty
members tapped this morning
have all given PCC hours of serv¬
ice in a variety of campus areas.
The honorees survived the long
selection process for new OMD
members. A large number of can¬
didates were nominated by mem¬
bers of the PCC faculty this se¬
mester. Current OMD’ers then in¬
terviewed school personnel who
could accurately judge the amount
and quality of service donated by
each nominee.
After hours of interviews and
meetings, the spring tappees were
picked by a vote of the active
members of OMD.
Those tapped into OMD for ex¬
traordinary and unselfish service
were:

commissioner, president of Beta
Phi Gamma, member of Student
Advisory Committee, treasurer
and publicity chairman of Spar¬
tans, Courier staff member.
Mary Blowers — President of the
Inter-Club Council, member of
Spartans, vice-president of Adel-
phians, member of Alpha Gamma
Sigma, member of Caduceus Club,
winner of John W. Harbeson
award last month for outstanding
scholarship and service.
Caroline Bredenberg — President
of Spartans, past secretary of
Spartans, ASB recording secre¬
tary, secretary of Senate.
Donna Broxson — President of
Associated Women Students,
member of Spartans, member of
Pep Commission, organized Wom¬
en’s Week this semester.
Bill Frenzel — Commissioner of
music, member of Cabinet, mem¬
ber of Music Council, performs in
band, orchestra, and choral
groups, originated many original
service projects including Juve¬
nile Hall concerts, writes and per¬
forms many original composi¬
tions.

Sheilah Peters — President of
English Council, active in English
Department for four semesters,
organized clothing drive for under
privileged children.
Bob Wortham — Active photog¬
rapher in photo production, takes
pictures for Pageant, Courier, and
Press Bureau, has had many pho¬
tographs printed in local press,
many pictures displayed in South¬
ern California art exhibits.
Cheryl Zintgraff — Executive ed¬
itor of the Courier, past feature
editor of Courier, member of
Publications Commission, delegate
to state journalism conventions
representing PCC, member of
Beta Phi Gamma (national honor¬
ary journalism organization).

ficiently handles all ASB accounts
and financial matters.
Jerry Todd — Coached PCC gym¬
nastics team to 72 consecutive vic¬
tories in past five years, his teams
have won five national cham¬
pionships and five Western cham¬
pionships, national college gym¬
nastics coach of the year in 1964
(only JC coach ever to receive
this award).

bers.
Immediately following the as¬
sembly, the tappees were guests
at a reception in the office of Dr.
Armen Sarafian, administrative
dean.
THE semi-annual banquet to
honor new OMD members is set
for Saturday night in the Campus
Center dining room. OMD actives,
honoraries, and alumni are ex¬
pected to attend the affair. Dr.
Robbins will welcome all guests.
Omicron Mu Delta was estab¬
lished on the PCC campus more
than 35 years ago, under the name
of Order of Mast and Dagger.
When John Muir’s counterpart
fraternity, Order of Distinguished
Service, merged in 1954, the pres¬
ent group was formed. Since
then, OMD has recognized a select
number of students and faculty
members who have donated un¬
selfish service to the college.
