- Description
- Themed high school graduation ceremonies were the tradition at Pasadena High School in the 1920's. The 1924 commencement as is evident in the photograph had a Dutch theme. The 1925 Annual contains a copy of this photograph along with the caption: "On the elevation stands the graduating class of 1924. In the center is Madame Ernestine Schumann Heink, escorted by the president and valedictorian of the class. In the foreground are the Junior girls in quaint costumes of Dutch maidens who present bouquets of flowers to each member of the Senior Class." Of particular significance of this graduation was that this was the class that was invited to stay on and be part of the first Junior College.
